2020 Lanka Premier League, also known as My11Circle LPL T20. It opened its grand doors on November 26th and ended on December 16, 2020, entertaining hundreds of thousands of cricket fans. The tournament was held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota. The global sports event was scheduled to begin in August but was rescheduled several times due to restrictions on the COVID-19 epidemic.
After announcing the My11Circle as the main sponsor of the inaugural edition of the Ceylon Premier League (LPL 2020) with a multi-billion deal, the LPL has the ultimate potential to become the second-largest sports league in South Asia. Five Sri Lankan city-based teams will play in 23 matches at Sri Lanka 2020 Cricket Tournament – the Colombo Kings, Dambulla Viking, Galle Gladiators, Kandy Tuskers, and Jaffna Stallions. Chris Gayle, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Angelo Mathews, Irfan Pathan, and many other local and foreign sports stars participated in this tournament.
Galle gladiators and Jaffna stallions were selected for the final round of the tournament. Jaffna Stallions won the Lanka Premier League title by defeating Galle Gladiators by 53 runs in a one-sided final match. After hitting the first ball, the Stallions gave the Gladiators a 189-run target. The Gladiators lost three wickets in the first three overs and never chased down, eventually losing the championship by 53 runs. The winners received $ 100,000 in trophies and prize money, while the runner-up received $ 50,000 and the individual awards included $ 2,500 for the ‘Last Player’ and $ 8,000 for the ‘Tournament Player’.
