Bambarakanda Falls is located in Kalupahana in the Badulla District. It is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka at 263 meters. It is the 299th tallest waterfall in the world. The fall was made by Kuda Oya, a tributary of the Walawe River. The waterfall is surrounded by a forest of pine trees and is a spectacular sight. From Belihuloya, take the Colombo-Batticaloa Expressway to Kalupahana in the Badulla District to reach the Bambarakanda Falls on the Kalupahana-Ohiya Road.

Bambarakanda Falls is located at an altitude of 1100 m. It is a horsetail type waterfall with a single point. The waterfall has a natural base pool suitable for bathing. The surrounding area is popular as a photo spot. Locals also come here for picnics with family and friends. The best time to visit Bambarakanda Falls is from March to May. That is when the water flow is at its highest. The dry season is from June to September, so the hiking season is from April to September.
