You will find a beautiful garden 10 km from Bentota. This house is the home of Bevis Bawa, the brother of the famous architect Jeffrey Bawa. Also known as the Lost Lover’s Flower Garden, it is the third-largest park in Sri Lanka and is spread over 20 acres. The designer of the park is Mr. Bevis Bawa, who is not an architect by profession and was a major in the Sri Lanka infantry.
It is said that he fell in love with a beautiful young woman he met one day and even resigned from the army due to the grief caused by her sudden departure from him. Hence this is called by the above name. He then decided to pay for his solitary life with art and built not only a house on his family’s Kalawila village land in Beruwala but also a beautiful garden. He has made solitude art and has built various works of art in the park. All the paintings and sculptures in this house and garden were made by this heartbroken man. The only female figure seen in the garden is her mother.

So far, the garden is home to more than a hundred species of plants, including flowers, flowers, and a variety of birds and butterflies. It is a must-visit place for people who love architecture as well as tranquil surroundings. It was during his lifetime that he decided to bury his ashes under a huge Esala tree in his garden, perhaps because he had lived in harmony with the environment and wanted to spend the rest of his life doing so.
This handsome man, who had spent his entire life in solitude, finally passed away on 8th September 1992, distributing this flower garden and all his property among his servants. The park was opened to the public in 1970, for Rs. 500 to visit only the garden and Rs. 2,000 will also be charged for visiting the palace and garden.
