It gets its name from the fact that the waterfall falls into seven floors. Hatmale Falls is located in the beautiful village of Kolavenigama near the town of Deniyaya in the Matara District. To reach this you have to come to Deniyaya and take about 7 km on the Deniyaya Pallegama road and take another 2 km on a by road. (Road is very difficult)
This waterfall is fed by the Ginga which starts from the Gongala mountain range at a height of 3900 feet. It is 45 meters high and 10 meters wide. This waterfall is the 68th tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka. (This is also the tallest waterfall in the Gin River)

The specialty of the waterfall is that the water level does not decrease at all times of the year. Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in the rainy season.
