Kalpitiya Lagoon

Kalpitiya Lagoon

Located in the Kalpitiya area, this peaceful lagoon has now become one of the fascinator destinations in Sri Lanka. Kalpitiya in the Puttalam district of Sri Lanka is a fast-growing tourist destination, consisting of 14 small islands over an area of approximately 16 square kilometers. Kalpitiya area can be considered as a unique place where you can enjoy the precious gifts of nature.

The lagoon is especially famous for kitesurfing and windsurfing. Winds, as well as weather conditions in the area, may vary but are generally considered suitable for water sports throughout the season. The lagoons are large, with generally still waters and small waves. There are many courses available locally for kitesurfing and windsurfing. There are also kayaking adventures through the mangrove forests of the lagoon. Adventurous travelers can also take part in paddleboarding across the sea and lagoon.

You can also see dolphins and whales here and it will be an interesting experience. If you remember sailing across the ocean in a boat, this will be the best vacation you have ever had. You will be guided by a useful Dolphin Tracker. More than 1000 dolphins come to Sri Lanka’s shores annually during these seasons, a significant number of which are reported from Puttalam. Amazing view of Kalpitiya Lagoon and beyond for you. Puttalam Lagoon is the perfect place to relax and release your stress. To take advantage of the best kite weather, you should visit Kalpitiya Lagoon from April to October. If visitors want to enjoy a fun dolphin-watching tour, aim to visit between November and April. However, if you want to find whales, take a trip to the depths of the Indian Ocean between December and April.
