Kandy lake is also known as Kiri muhuda or the sea of milk.  Kandy lake is an artificial(man-made) lake. Kandy lake is the heart of the Kandy. Kandy lake situated next to the temple of the tooth. Kandy lake is a protected lake with fishing banned.

Kandy lake is a very beautiful lake next to the temple of the tooth. This lake was created in 1807. Kandy lake was built by king Sri wickrama rajasingha the last Sinhala ruler of the kingdom of Kandy Sri Lanka.

The surface area of the Kandy lake is about 47 acres. Another interesting one is the wall( walakulu bamma). Kandy lake also one of the most attractive places for visitors who visited Kandy Sri Lanka. Kandy lake is a very beautiful and interesting place at Kandy.
