Olu Ella Falls in Kegalle

Olu Ella Falls in Kegalle

Olu Ella is the 6th tallest waterfall in the country and the tallest waterfall in Kegalle district. It is also the tallest waterfall on the Kelani River. The source of this waterfall is the Oya which starts from Mount Baranawa at 1200 m and then joins the Welihel Oya in Parusella and then the Kelani River in the Yatiyanthota area.

The waterfall is 18 meters wide, 127 meters high, and falls into 4 sections. Although you can drive up to this majestic waterfall without a walk, the casual tourist is missed due to the remote location. So this is one waterfall that has not become a garbage dump of tourists. The road to Seepoth is divided into two waterfalls. An ancient wooden bridge spans across the Wee Oya. This wooden bridge was built to transport tea leaves during the colonial period and is said to be the oldest wooden bridge in use in the country today.
