Pettigala in Teldeniya – Hike & visit

Pettigala in Teldeniya

Pettigala, also known as Pethiyagala, is a hiking area situated in Teldeniya in the Kandy district. Seen from the top of Pettigala, Victoria Reservoir stretches 360 degrees across Asman, with coconut groves, tea plantations, and paddy fields in the distance. Beyond them, the evergreen forest of the Central Highlands stretches to infinity. It is about 760 meters high and is ideal for climbers.

In general, Pettigala is not yet a popular tourist destination. There are various legends about this Pattigala. It is said that there was a battle between Rama and Ravana. Legend has it that King Rawana used a stone gate on the side of this hill.

There is also an opinion that a mummified body is still in a cave here. There is a story that this relic belongs to Ravana. However, despite conducting various researches on Ravana, no eyewitness evidence has been found in any of these cases.
