The sagiliyan thoppu is an ancient arch that was part of the outer façade of the Jaffna kingdom. Sangiliyan thoppu is located about 3.2 kilometers from the Jaffna bus stand. King sangili who died in 1623 was the last king of Jaffna.

This sangiliyan statue was dedicated to that last king of Jaffna.  The statue is seen as a landmark of the city of Jaffna. The sangiliyan statue was built during 1974 at muthiraj junction.

Sangiliyan statue stands a monument for back over many years and it built to commemorating Jaffna’s last king. This is an interesting place in Jaffna Sri Lanka.
