Things to do in Hatton

Nuwara Eliya is a city in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is located in the central highlands at an altitude of 1,868 m (6,128 ft). Known as the ‘Little England’ in Sri Lanka, Hatton is located in the Nuwara Eliya District in the central hills of the country. For miles, you can see the green carpet with the tea bushes cut in order. The beauty of the lush mountains is breathtaking. Hatton’s idea is to present nature in its purest and rarest form, with soothing sounds from a fascinating waterfall, and the sounds of colorful endangered birds.

The climate in Hatton is pleasant throughout the year but be prepared for the occasional rain. The best time to visit Hatton is from January to April. This is the dry season when the average temperature is around 28 degrees Celsius. The main spoken languages in Nuwara Eliya are Sinhala and Tamil. The population is a mixture of Sinhalese, Tamils, and Moors. Many of the tea plantation workers brought to Sri Lanka by the British in the 19th century were Indian Tamils. Below is a comprehensive list of how to make the most of your vacation in Hatton.

01. Journey from Colombo to Hatton

The train journey from Colombo to Hanton via Kandy offers some of the best views of the mountainous countryside of Sri Lanka. As the train travels slowly along the old roads from Kandy, you will see remote rural areas with banana plantations and other farmland. The followers of different denominations have different ideas but what they have in common is that they all believe in the sanctity of the place. You can see the amazing beauty of the sun rising from the horizon early in the morning. You can visit here at any time but the best time is from December to April. This is a 900-meter sloping slope located at the southern end of the park.

05. Mackwoods Labookellie Tea Factory
