Heritage tourism involves visiting Sri Lanka historical sites such as Sigiriya, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa etc. The overall purpose is to gain the admiration of the past history of the country. Another likely form of involvement is pilgrimages. Beautiful cities like Colombo, Galle, Mirissa, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya in Sri Lanka also attract tourists more easily by providing the supreme accommodation facilities. The places and scenarios with natural beauty such as Sinharaja, Yala National Park, waterfalls, mountains, rivers & lakes etc. attract the tourists hugely today also as in the past.
