There are many waterfalls in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. Most located close to popular tourist destinations such as Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Badulla, Bandarawela, and Ratnapura. There are plenty of waterfalls off the main roads or within a few minutes. Bambarakanda Falls is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka and the widest waterfall is Bomburu Falls which situated in the central hills of Sri Lanka. For anyone who wants to enjoy the beauty of these spectacular waterfalls, you can easily go there and enjoy nature.

Bambarakanda Waterfall

Bambarakanda waterfall is also known as the Bambarakale waterfall. It is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka with a height of 263 meters (863 feet) and is the 299th highest waterfall in the world. It is only four miles away from the Colombo–Bandarawela road in a forest glade which may be a bit difficult to get through due to the dense forest around Bandarawela.

Diyaluma Waterfall

Diyaluma Falls is 220 meters (720 ft) high and is the second tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is located around the Koslanda-Wellawaya road. The extent of water spilled downwards is so great during the rainy season.

Devon Waterfall

Devon Falls, also known as the “Vale of the Valley”, is a waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is located situated 6 km west of Talawakele, Nuwara Eliya District on the A7 highway. The waterfall is 97 meters (318 ft) and is the 19th highest in the country.

Bomburu Falls

Bomburu Ella, also known as Perawella Falls, is a waterfall of the Uva-Paranagama Divisional Secretariat in Sri Lanka. Bomburu Ella is the wildest waterfall in Sri Lanka and consists of several small waterfalls. The origin of the waterfall is a lake in the central hills of Sri Lanka.

Lovers Leap Waterfall

Lover’s Leap is a stunning waterfall. People say that two lovers have jumped to their deaths, hence the name Lover’s Leap. This magnificent waterfall boasts a height of 30 meters. Lover’s Leap Falls is about 3 km from the town of Nuwara Eliya.
